You Can Do This!

The Great Commission is Jesus’ final instruction to his disciples before ascending to heaven. This pivotal moment sets forth the mission to go make disciples and includes a promise of God being with all who follow through on this call.

Unfortunately, most believers never share the Gospel or their faith with anyone. A growing percentage of Christians now say it is the local church’s job to evangelize. Even more discouraging is how younger believers are increasingly saying that sharing the Gospel and participating in evangelism is inappropriate.

When you combine these unfortunate cultural realities with the spiritual challenges of sharing the Gospel today, we see why the need is great, but the workers are few.
We do not pretend sharing the Gospel is easy, but every believer can do it if they try. The truth is you do not need formal training in seminary or to think you must know the answer to every question. You don’t have to memorize the Bible first or disqualify yourself because your faith journey was messy. Whatever God has delivered you through is part of the story he wants you to share so someone else can be redeemed.

You just need to be willing to have a conversation.

I often share the example of traveling on a plane or train. The stranger that sits next to you starts quietly crying. You would likely at some point ask if they are ok. They might share what has them upset and a conversation ensues. This is how most conversations start online. Two people talking about life.
You don’t have to go somewhere and approach a stranger. You simply need to meet them, listen well, show grace and love them while sharing the biblical truth of all Jesus has done for them. We have volunteers from 18-91 years old meet strangers and have conversations about the Good News every day. You too can do this!
