It would be nice if everyone that came to Need Him Global was ready to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and simply needed a few simple questions answered and a little encouragement that Jesus loves them.
If you are one of the many invaluable volunteers to the ministry you know that is not the case. Don’t get me wrong, it happens and it is an incredible blessing when God uses us as part of that life changing commitment. However, it is somewhat counter-intuitive to expect someone that has been running from God, and doesn’t know His love or grace, to show up the first time to talk and be ready to invite Him in.
The anonymous nature of our conversations gives the ministry an interesting seat in the arena of cultural issues. It is very common to have someone say, “I have never told this to anyone before and not sure how to share this.” The result is that we get to see which topics are gaining momentum and becoming bigger issues before they reach a point when mainstream media and others pick up on their significance.
The best example of this was how we saw the increase in conversations about gay marriage well before states started voting on whether it should be allowed. We now see a similar pattern around gender and sexuality questions, marijuana consumption, and assisted suicide.
We also had the benefit of talking with people from over 170 different countries last year. This means we get to see what issues people are struggling with across a broad cross-cultural perspective.
We thought you might enjoy seeing these two different lists. Obviously, there are a multitude of questions that fall within each topic but we wanted to share these themes and give you the opportunity to be thinking about how your family and friends might be struggling with similar issues behind the scenes.
