I Can Only Imagine

You have probably been able to pick up on how the ministry is becoming involved in more movies. We have seen tremendous response and continue to have conversations online each week from people that have just watched Woodlawn and Heart of Man.  God is using these movies to move hearts and introduce people to Jesus Christ.  Our objective is to find more movies with a strong Christian message where we can partner to provide a place where people can ask questions and learn what it means to follow Jesus Christ.

The most recent partnership involves the critically acclaimed movie I Can Only Imagine. The movie shares its title with the #1 song that brings ultimate hope to so many … often in the midst of life’s most challenging moments. Amazingly, the song was written in mere minutes by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. In reality, those lyrics took a lifetime to craft. The movie tells a true life story of forgiveness and redemption based on Bart’s journey and his relationship with his father.

The Erwin Brothers directed this film and once again desired to see the film be the beginning of a conversation. They agreed to put an invitation for people to learn about Jesus as the first credit at the end of the film.  As we discussed what we learned from Woodlawn, we decided to acquire the domain name www.ChatAboutFaith.com. This allowed us to track every visitor coming from I Can Only Imagine to a unique web site and know how many chat and text conversations were coming from that web site.

Forgiveness is the major theme of this story and it permeates the conversations we receive from the movie. In the first month since the film’s release, we have already had thousands of people visit this new site and we have had conversations with people that have not spoken to different family members for decades. They are asking how to start that dialogue and seek God’s forgiveness for the sins that led to these broken relationships. The side bar chat is one of those conversations.

We look forward to years of opportunities to share Jesus with people that see this film, especially as it is released internationally and becomes available on video and through streaming services.
